GroupMan (another great new product)

Now all our products are great but then are some products that are even greater like vListMaker, Trivius and s-Globe for example. Well GroupMan is another product just like that. It is simple to use and adresses a very common problem; Group invites! How annoying it is to invite people. You have to open up several screens, type the name in and find it and then send the invite out etc. It gets worse if you are busy and especially if you have many people asking for an invite. So what do you do? You either ask them to join themselves by searching for it in SL search in which case half of them don't bother or simply don't know how to do that or you drop everything you're doing and spend a long time sending invites out.

GroupMan resolves this problem. How?...well read on:

GroupMan is a very stylish and easy to use group sign up and management display. It is totally popup menu operated and requires ZERO set-up. You simply rezz the object and set it to the group you want people to sign up to.

GroupMan takes care of the rest and it is fully automated. When someone touches the object it will display the standard SL Group invitation box where they will just need to click on the "Join" button.

The popup menu gives access to the list of people who have touched GroupMan. The list is auto reset every 6 hours and the names of the people who have touched it are IMed to the owner of GroupMan.

Clever eh!!!

s-Radar (Brand new product)

L-Tek has launched s-radar:

s-Radar is a very easy to use yet sophisticated piece of equipment that gives you ultimate control over your home, business or land. Totally popup menu operated with minimal settings (if any) are required. s-Radar is a very clever combination of a greeter, 3D radar and land security technologies. Yep! an all in one very poweful device.

s-Radar will tell you in real-time excatly who has visited, where they are, what they are doing and how long they have been there. At the same time it will give you a "one-touch" access (for each individual avatar) to ban, send home or kick security features for instant control/action.

All features can be used independantly from each other. What is s-Radar usefull for? Well...below is just a few:

1. Time of visitor arrival
2. Visitor full name
3. Total time spent by each visitor
4. Total time spent by all visitors
5. Average time spent
6. Minimum and Maximum time spent
7. Exact 3D location of each visitor with ability to TP to that location
8. Ability to tell the level of each vistor i.e. gorund level, 1st floor, in the air etc
9. The state of each visitor i.e. talking, sitting, flying, scripted or non scripted etc
10. The distance of each visitor to s-Radar in metres
11. One touch "full profile" details of each visitor including SL account information, UUID and the display of the avatar profile photo on the s-Radar display screen
12. Displays the locations of only the avatars on your land in real time. ANy avatar outside your land is not displayed on the radar.
13. Total number of avatars in range (96 metres) displayed as text at all times
14. Total numbers of avatars on your land displayed as text at all times
15. Each displayed avatar location uses a different colour so that it is easy to distinguish between them
16. s-Radar can be fully used by the members of the group you set it to...no entering of names or UUIDs etc
17. All the fucntions of the greeter module are fully configurable down to the smallest detail. The greeter can be switched on/off and it can also be set to silent mode so it will act like just a traffic counter.
18. Everything is SL based so there are no web sites to visit or places to login to
19. Large 2mx2m design so that it is easier to manage and follow
20. s-Radar is MOD so you can change the shape, colour and texture of any part of it
21. s-Radar is transferable
22. One touch on an avatar location pops up the control menu for that avatar which gives access to display of detailed avatar profile, display of avatar photo and security features to ban, kick or send home the selected avatar

s-Radar is ideal for full professional home, business or land management. It is the only tool you need to achive the following:

1. Determine how many people visit which part of your land
2. Determine and understand visitor behaviour, how and when they move around
3. Get detailed statistical information in real time or historical visits i.e. visitors that have left your land
4. See how many avatars there are on your land at any one time...in real time
5. Manage your land more efficient and effectively
6. Get the desired information on an avatar with one-touch, without having to look for them
7. Acces powerful land security features for instant action for the protection of your land and visitors
8. Get to know and understand your visitors/customers a lot better
9. Manage campers more effectively
10. Find out who spends the most time, when and where
11. Whether it be for security or simple traffic management reasons, s-Radar enables you to acutally see what is happening in real time. Unlike other individual or combined devices you don't need to look for anything and you dont need to guess. Everything you need is right there laid infront of you in real time.
...plus whatever else benefit you can think of. The list can be endless.

L-Tek Showroom

L-Tek HQ moves to Vilmarh

The L-Tek head office and main showroom has moved to Vilmarh which is a class 5 mainland SIM. After VistaLogic's decision to pull out of Second Life, L-Tek reviewed everything and decided to make radical business changes on how the company was operating in Second Life. As a result the L-Tek business model has changed completely. A few of these changes are as below:

1. To close down many different group companies that had formed over the past 6 months and return to the core to be able to concentrate on providing more new products, improving existing ones and creating more time for customer relations.
2. As beautiful as it may have been, giving up the Rearden SIM to save considerable costs and use the cost saving in productive areas such as product development, promotions, advertisement and increasing the number of camping spots.
3. Adoption of the idea to have a small but solid head office and multiple satellite sales shops for better reach and stronger market penetration. The aim is to have 10 satellite sales shops in 10 different mainland SIMs by the end of April 2008.
4. In an increasingly unstable Second Life economy, to minimise risks by shifting resources to the far more reliable and stable (financially) mainland SIMs than the private SIM sector.
5.To take advantage of the passerby traffic which exists on mainland SIMs.

So far so good and the fact that the land traffic has reached 10K within the 1st week of the move proves that the above plans are working well! With the move, L-Tek have released 2 brand new products; s-radar and GroupMan. Both are truley exceptional products and you must check them out as the description of these products are beyond the scope of this article.

The new building has 2 floors and is a lot smaller which enables all the products to be closer together making shopping a lot easier for customers in ways that finding products of interest in a lot easier and browsing through all other products without having TP or fly is now possible.

Outsdie the building there is gorgeous garden where people can relax, camp and wind down. We will be adding more chill out spots to the garden in the near future.

So make sure to visit and check the new premises out.

New L-Tek Affiliate System

Following JEVN's announcement that JENC affiliate systems had a bug in them where scripts from the vendors were disappearing, we have released an updated version of the L-Tek affiliate system.

The system is available for L$10 at the L-Tek showroom in Rearden or you can use the slUrl below. The reason why we are now charging for the system is not to make money but to cut out the timewasters.

Real 3D Logo and signs

As you might already know the L-Tek cosntruction team in Second Life recently scrapped the whole Rearden SIM and redesigned it. Which isn't really interesting in itself however what is interesting is that they used 2 new & unseen methodologies of creation.

Now one of them is the way they created all the buildings which is not the subject of this blog and I will leave it to discuss in a future one. The second was the creation of real 3D logos and sign. What I mean by the word "real" is that the the logo or the sign is not a texture but a series of very small and large objects that are put together. Check out the sign on the left. It consists of 270 objects. Not for everyones cup of tea because you need to have lots of prims to go for something like this. However if you do it will make your logo or sign noticeable. Ideal for a business that doesn't want to look like the rest.

In doing this L-Tek uses a special 3D technique. With this technique they are able to create any logo and any text in any font with this technique. The whole design, including the building of the logo or text in 3D is done in real life and then it is uploaded into Second Life. The structure is auto built with zero manual intervention. After that obviously only the colouring and the texturing (if any) of the objects are done in Second Life. So as you can imagine the whole process is labour intensive and requires a lot of skill.

The logo above is the L-Tek sign in front of the L-Tek Headquarter building in Rearden. So if you ever end up in Rearden make sure you check it out.

Lorian Exhibitions & Conferences

Lorian Exhibitions & Conferences has been launched in Second Life. The aim of the company is to serve real life companies that do not wish to have a full time presence in Second Life but wish to exhibit goods or hold conferences from time to time.

Via the Lorian exhibition Centre Lorian Exhibitions & Conferences is able to serve such requirements precisely and at a much lower cost than having a full time presence.

Real Life companies also have the option to contract L-Tek construction services to build anything and everything that may be required for exhibitions. Included in the lease price of the exhibition centre is also the full promotion of exhibitions in Second Life as well as the internet.

The Lorian Exhibition Centre consists of one detached exhibition hall located in the middle of the Rearden SIM and 2 large conference rooms on the 2nd floor of the state-of-the-art L-Tek Headquarters.
